2003 Award Winners

Year 1 -4 Winner

Mayfair School, Hastings: the senior syndicate Years 4 – 6, were all involved in a unit requiring them to come up with a plan for hat storage. Peter Free of MWH (NZ) Ltd, Simon Reveley of Heinz Wattie Australasia, William Gray of Opus International Consultants and Peter Volker, Consulting Engineer, each worked with a different class, each of which came up with an individual solution.

Year 5 – 8 Winner

Tamatea Intermediate, Hastings: a group of ten Year 8 students identified a need for a workstation for physically disabled/less mobile students to be able to participate in the new biotechnology area. With teacher Peter Hunt and Ben Luders from Holmes Consulting Group, the team was able to come up with a very successful solution to this problem.

Year 9 – 13 Winner

Tararua College, Pahiatua: a chocolate chip biscuit took out the prize in this category with the Big Bikkie Project. Diana Eagle’s Year 10 students worked with Food Technologist Carol Pound through the process of making a plan, developing skills and producing their biscuit for sale at the school’s spring picnic.
